Bartko Pavia is proud to announce that Patrick M. Ryan, Co-Managing Partner and Chair of the firm’s Litigation Practice, has been named to the Daily Journal’s 2025 list of Top Antitrust Lawyers.
This recognition reflects Patrick’s more than 25 years of success handling complex antitrust and intellectual property disputes for both plaintiffs and defendants, particularly in the health care and technology sectors. Known for his meticulous preparation and creative litigation strategies, Patrick credits the exceptional mentors who shaped his career and approach to high-stakes advocacy.
Patrick’s recent antitrust representations include leading the case brought by a group of hospitals against major insurance companies in VHS Liquidating Trust v. Blue Cross Blue Shield Ass’n, where his team defeated multiple attempts to dismiss key claims. He also served on the trial team that secured a complete defense verdict in the $1.2 billion Sidibe v. Sutter Health Cartwright Act class action, and achieved a dismissal with prejudice for Uber after prevailing on a rarely granted Section 437c(f) motion in Bama Commercial Leasing v. Uber Technologies, Inc.
“Litigation is an art that requires creativity and a willingness to challenge conventional thinking,” Patrick said.
Patrick continues to be recognized for his ability to simplify complex antitrust issues, deliver impactful early results, and guide clients through some of the most consequential competition matters in California.
